Axle

Meet my lovely pet axolotl Axle or Ax as I call him.
About 18 months ago a technician from another school gave me some axolotl eggs, which I placed in a bowl with an air stone. Over the next few weeks all but one of the tiny baby axolotl babies died....leaving just Axel, but he was really strong, and just grew and grew....
First I brought daphnia for him, then bloodworms, and now he has beef heart in little strips from the freezer.
He is so big he has gone from a little sandwich box to a 3 ft luxury tank.
I think he is a great pet, and he is so sweet, always coming over to see me, whenever I walk in the room...
A very special pet! Hope you like him too..
An axolotl is the nymph stage of a salamander, but they can spend all their lives and breed in this would be immature state. Some say if you add thyroxin to the water, they go on to develop into the mature salamander, but personally I prefer him as he is.
