Dubai

We were up early today, 3am to be precise. Our flight from Sydney to Dubai left at 6am, duration of flight 15 1/2 hours, time difference -7 hours. So although we don't feel jet lagged we just don't know what time of day it is.
We've stayed in this hotel before, Desert Palm, it's a little out the city and it's perfect for a relaxed finish to a wonderful, but tiring, holiday. Today a British couple were celebrating their marriage in the hotel, expats, but a number of guests have travelled from Britain for the reception. This is the view from our table tonight, with the pool between us and the wedding party. On the left of the picture you can just about make out the Burj Khalifa in the distance, the world's tallest man made structure at 830 meters. Dubai is a place I never expected to enjoy, vulgar with a capital V, but I do enjoy being here. (doesn't make me a bad person!)
