LAST NIGHT I COULD NOT
easily drop off to sleep. Is there a pattern? Full moon? Too much serious reading before we put out the light? Some memories that keep popping up and do not want to leave again?
Fact is that I did awoke rather late, and seeing the grey sky with no hope of turning into a lighter colour did not help me to greet lightely the day.
The birds did not have that problem it seemed when I fixed their food on the crab apple tree branch.
I walked my little tour, a loop more or less and did my best not to be disappointed in not finding something new that caught my attention.
I cleaned the kichenfloor, throroughly. Had been on my list since a week.
After lunch Piet Hein and I decided to walk, not too far, along the Weser, and then do some purchases.
Let's walk to where the big sign with a ship upon it is placed along the path, often a point where we return. But when we reached it, we saw in the distance the meadow with the sheep, grazing. There I'll find perhaps my picture, I thought and I did.
My haiku:
Count the sheeps one says
But I had forgotten that
In the dark of the night
And the proverb:
Now I have a sheep and a cow, everybody bids me 'Good morrow'.
Can be found in the Poor Richard's Almanck by B. Franklin, edited 1733 - 58.
Meaning: Industry gives comfort, and plenty, and respect....
