A hush and Cross Fell

We drove up the road that leads to the top of Great Dunn Fell and it's golfball radar installations at about 860 metres. This is taken looking to the snowy summit of Cross Fell.
On the right is a hush. Lead miners dammed water at the top of the slope and the released it so that the underlying rocks, hopefully lead or other minerals, were exposed. So much easier than digging as lead occurs often in vertical structures and not in seams like coal.

A lovely day with the sun low in the sky really accentuated the hush.
