The Factory

It's early evening in the factory, the rolling mill is silent, the bosses have confidence in their plots and plans. Either way, they won't lose out.
The workers have little confidence in the plots and plans. Either way they can't win.
Its a day by day struggle and yet, there is not much in the way of open complaint or revolt. Masters, workers and office are all in it together really.

The tide has turned and the unions have lost out.
The office workers? They are in the middle of it. They are the go-betweens, the peace makers. Neither master or slave. More of a UN type of observer. Likely to get shot at from both sides. Hard workers all, masters and slaves.
Then a wagon load of raw material arrives. The air is alive with relief and anticipation. The workers are working and the bosses are congratulating themselves, another gamble has paid off.
The office workers? Still being shot at from both sides. But, for now, with some levity.
Success and safety is tangible, so there is hope. After all this is the peoples republic of South Yorkshire .
