Clove Oranges

I bought a few small oranges to make a pomander, or clove orange or two.
Pomander balls go back to the 15th century, when they were used to freshen, or mask other aromas!!
The citrus spice smell can warm a room, hang in a cupboard or just sit in a bowl!
There is a little poem about clove oranges, but I can only remember a fragment - maybe someone else knows it ?? It may be from the 15th century!
Busy day, just managed to fill the bird feeders before it got dark. My robins have been hiding recently, but one of them scuttled along the terrace hoping for a snack!
