Breaking Ground
Last year I was soaking pinto beans for cooking, and one sprouted overnight. We decided to plant it, and it grew like gangbusters. Every time I looked at it (about 50 times a day) it had grown! (26 Feb. 2012 blip) By 2 April blip it had started to produce beans, so when we left at the end of April, we left the plant with a friend, and asked her to just let the beans dry and save them.
Fast forward...She gave us 11 beans, we soaked them for one night in a wet napkin and planted them on Mon. 18 Nov. When we returned from the hike yesterday, I could see the soil beginning to heave, and I took this photo this morning. You can see a second bean pushing up on the left.
By 6 p.m. this plant was one inch tall and had 2 leaves.
Eat your heart out Monsanto.
