Sunday Skies over Godley Head
Sunday Skies challenge with Creative Lenna, and
Colour Challenge - grey
Godley Head, the dramatic and wild northern headland to Lyttelton Harbour is nationally significant, being one of the most intact and extensive WWII coastal defence batteries left in New Zealand
You can see its location on the map.
A friend and I drove up onto Godley Head this afternoon, with our cameras, to have a look at all the swirling sea fog around the headland and far out to sea. The fog was very dramatic and seemed to stretch all the way up to the Kaikoura mountains. The photos of the fog are amazing but I wanted to include 'grey' in my blip, so chose this image with the grey battery building, used to generate power if the national grid power went down. It's only a little bit of grey but click here to see more of it ! You can see the sea fog down below, completely blocking the view of the sea entrance to Lyttelton Harbour.
