Diverted Ouse
This is the river in Bedford, which I am told is an artificial partial diversion of the River Great Ouse that comes from the Fens of Cambridgeshire.
It looked fine in the autumnal sunlight, and thee was a considerable amount of river activity going on: rowing and so on.
We had conceived a conceit of a trip to Bedford some time ago, and finally put a plan into action. We travelled from near our front door to Bicester, and there caught the X5 express bus to Buckingham, Milton Keynes and Bedford.
While in Bedford, we saw many food stalls in the open in a kind of market street, but ended up having lunch at a good Chinese buffet joint, which sported this dramatic relief mural.
Mrs S subsequently bought a warm raincoat for her forthcoming weekend jaunt to Venice. And talking of Venice, we had excellent coffee at this Italian place that sported a large image of Venice (with Mrs S at the counter fetching the coffee).
