Morning Blue

I got out before breakfast this morning to get some fresh air and exercise. Walking up through the woods a low mist hung in the air, it moved slowly looking almost blue against the spruce trees. The yellow leaves of the birch added a touch of brightness to an otherwise dull morning. The mist did eventually clear and the afternoon was a little brighter. I ventured out for another walk. The air was cold and still and I could hear the calls of the blue tits and great tits feeding high in the tree tops. As I returned home at 15:30 the light was fading and the sky tinged with a gentle pink. The air smelt sweet with wood smoke which was rising upwards from the chimney pots as people lit their evening fires.
