"Turkish Hat"
is how we call this big pumpkin in Germany. The name must date from a long time ago, from the Osman Empire, when noble men wore such fancily wrapped hats.
Anyway, for me it is one of the most delicious pumpkins, the plant grows enormous fruits, and they stay in the garage for most of the winter without loosing their flavor or texture. I love to make all kind of things out of it, soups, breads, pickles etc.
Today, when I opened the one that I bought for Halloween, I found two already developed plants in it, the two seedling-leaves already a bit green. What a luxury. I will try to plant it. Maybe it will make it over the winter inside of the house?
