Regeneration

A corner of woodland on the road into Glen Massan. Bought from the Forestry Commission by the community, cleared over the summer and now, on this dark afternoon (we were out late again) we came upon this heartening sight. The fire was wonderful - pine branches left from the felling, burning brightly with a smell of cinnamon - and the activity amazing as volunteers planted, staked and protected the new trees, all with the assistance of the Woodland Trust.

It is hoped to encourage more people to walk responsibly in this part of the world, with its variety of accessible, relatively flat paths through wonderful scenery.
