Let the Festive Season begin!
Went supermarket shopping this morning, by choice. JR had raved about a newly done up store and I ‘had’ to see it. Looked pretty much the same to me. Just more stuff. But what I did notice was that the freezers were all covered in now, thereby making walking amongst them not the chilling experience it normally is. Not to mention the waste of energy ( the freezers, not me).
We bought a new toaster. It has lots of knobs. And it cost a small fortune. For burning bread slightly!! I couldn’t believe it when I knew we HAD to have it. We had toast for lunch. Tasted exactly like the toast the £9 toaster used to make…
I then had to watch the Ireland/All Black match! I must say, it’s been a great rugby weekend. What a game!! Poor Ireland, they nearly did it!
Went into town to see the ‘turning on of the Christmas lights’. What a shamozzle! It was jam packed in George Street, and as far as I could see, nothing much was going on, so we retired to our favourite pub, and had a comfortable seat with a view of Chris Hoy on the big screen, and the fireworks.
Our waiter was a young lad with impressive (not) cauliflower ears, so I said to him it was a good game this afternoon, and asked him to guess who won. ‘Don’t tell me!’ he exclaimed and ran away. But he’ll be wondering all evening now.
We popped into the Dome, along with hundreds of others, just to stand and gaze at the fabulous decorations they do. Pity about the food...
From there we had a walk around St Andrew’s Square. What fun! I can see that a few blips will be had there in the weeks to come. But it’s the first one I took tonight while there was still a bit of light in the sky.
