Little friends
I'm pretty sure I've blipped at least one of these guys before, but I'm not gonna lie, this is an emergency blip! And desperate times etc.
I bought these two birds, which are carved from pumpkins, in Peru back in 2007. That sounds pretty recent to me but feels like an awfully long time ago! My undergraduate days, my chemistry career and my engagement to be married had just ended, and a new relationship, my 3 year physics career and spell as a PhD student were about to begin. I was also sort of homeless. So I thought I deserved a bit of a special holiday, and I came home with a suitcase full of souvenirs (literally, I had to buy a second one there). Despite getting totally battered, and having beaks and legs stuck back on with superglue many times over, the pumpkin-birds have survived and still take pride of place on my dining table. They bring back good memories of an amazing trip :)
