Discovery

It was bitterly cold (temperatures struggled to climb above freezing, and it was windy), so we decided to go to the Air and Space museum's outpost near Dulles. We had been talking about it for a long time, but never bothered to go. The highlight was this--Space Shuttle Discovery. Bigger, cooler, more simple than you would have imagined--and strangely beautiful. Especially with two umbrellas suspended over it. Another highlight, of a more sombre bent, was seeing the Enola Gay. It's a remarkably graceful airplane, in contrast to its shocking mission.

On the way back, to complete the day of Americana, we saw a bald eagle swooping low over the highway. I was driving, which is my excuse for not posting a photo of a bald eagle.
