Contemplative stroll by the river

A glorious blue-sky brassy-sun day. Temperature 48F/8C. Spent the afternoon out on Sauvie Island with my friend Alex, who is a birder and kept up a running commentary: bald eagle, red-tailed hawk, hover hawk, blue heron, and thousands of Canada Geese. Alex is having trouble with his left knee, so we opted for a short walk. The beach closest to the road is the clothing-optional beach. We thought it would be deserted on this chilly day. Not quite.
