Say Yes
Our European partners weren't at all happy when we declined to ratify the Lisbon Treaty the first time round. Now we're being asked to vote again, no doubt in the hope that we'll do 'the right thing' this time. The circus is under way in the lead-up to 2nd October, and the usual rash of political posters is appearing on every available lamp post all over the country.
The usual rash of mis-information is rearing its ugly head too, of course, and the unfortunate electorate is left once again in a state of utter confusion. The prophets of doom are in even fuller flight this time round, warning that we 'can't do without' Europe, especially in the present economic climate, as if the issue is about EU membership rather than how the EU should be structured and should conduct itself.
So far, I've heard nothing which would change my mind and lead me to vote differently this time to how I voted previously.
