Ruapehu

Left Christchurch early, 7.05am flight, arriving in Rotorua around 8.45. Awesome flight, with a relatively rare, in my experience, view of the crater at Ruapehu. Awesome, and still lots of snow.

Landed, got the bike organised, had a leisurely coffee at MTB Rotorua, and then onto the shuttle around 10.30. 3 great runs down Jumps/Corners and then hooked up with a friend to ride for the afternoon.

Another Corners/Jumps. Then a Billy T/G-Rock, and finally a Billy T and then out wide to Split Enz/Pondy. Somehow we got separated, and Mike headed back to the hotel early. So I decided to one last run, down Old Chevy. When I finally got the bottom I remembered why I don’t normally do Chevy … it’s so long, up and down, up and down, and at the end of the day it’s energy sapping … But fun. So, rode from 10.30 to 5, quite a few stops, but well and truly shagged!

Back to the hotel where Mike also coincidentally was staying, a couple of beers, Thai takeaways, and then an early night.
