Heron Basking

I feel so lucky to have a beautiful walking trail and pond so close to my house, and today I was treated to this beautiful heron illuminated by the sun. He wasn't very close but he sat there forever soaking up the rays! I'm grateful today for sights like these. There are so many people that have only seen herons in pictures!!
