Amicizia
This afternoon after work was over I went to Ponsonby Road with my camera hoping to be able to find a photo to continue contributing to the One Street project started by Kendall.
As it happened I very soon met Barry and introduced myself, giving him an explanation about blipfoto, in the midst of which he hastened inside One-2-One (the cafe outside which he was seated) to get me a copy of a local magazine; Cafe Philosophy. (Although my copy is on the table as I took the photo, I did take it with me; it features articles on Spinoza this month).
I told him that I like to take photos of people reading outside cafes, and he graciously consented to be one of my subjects.
Reader: Barry
Place: One-2-One Cafe, Ponsonby Road
Book: 50 Years of Amicizia (Friendship), by Stefano Breccia
Refreshment: Coffee to go
Off now to help mind the boys while daughter C, newly appointed Head of History at Avondale College, attends the Departmental dinner this evening.
Later addition: The book Barry is reading is about the fifty years of contact between Italians in remote area of the country, and aliens, in a process they call friendship, Amicizia. He was very enthusiastic about it. I have put a link above to a brief book review.
