Stages of the Humble Rose
Yeehah! We have rain! On and off all day. Lovely soft warm wetting rain. It is predicted to go on for a couple of days.
There are wild briar roses growing alongside one of the Taylor River Tracks. I love the Briar Roses in all their stages of growth. Even so I recognise that the wild briar is a terrible pest growing in our backcountry such as in the Molesworth. But it is very pretty alongside where I and the dogs ramble. Here is an image of the humble rose in most of its stages, in bud, half flower, full flower and then in its dying stages. The only stage that is missing is the hips. We will have to wait until next autumn for those to appear.
