Backblip

We woke up to Commonground's blissful serenity - quiet, punctuated only with the call of birds.... and the cry of a baby.

I got up and looked after Miles whilst Gina caught a few extra zzzs. Normally when we're up here it's for a working bee, so it was great to be able to just lounge around and chat without having to plan tasks and get on with the manual labour.

I spent a bit of time aside from the group working on something that needed to be done urgently - I wasn't at all in the right frame of mind for it, but time will tell whether I did a reasonable job. It was pretty frustrating to have to do it over the weekend, but with having been so busy it was the only way I could do it.

Gina made lunch for everyone (about 50 people) - an epic amount of awesome bean chili and beef fajitas, which were still going late into the following day!

The past few working bees had seen us construct a wood-fired pizza oven, and this was the first proper use it was going to get. Patch organised the team and David, Lewis and Laura went about making incredible pizzas - real restaurant quality (but then Patch does like to do things properly...).

There was also a ridiculous amount of baby time, with 5 babies under the age of 1 present - it was great to see them all interacting. Faye gave Miles a go on the piano and he loved it... definitely loves his music the Little Goblin!

The Shivering Timbers had agreed to play as well, and for us it was a good dress rehearsal for the launch coming on Friday - Commongrounders are always an appreciative crowd, and this was no different - everyone had a good old dance, which is what we like to encourage!

I had a couple of beers by the fire after the sets, before bed... I had to be at the train station for 8am the next morning to set off for the Medical Bionics conference.
