Flowers behind bars
I work beside one of the oldest buildings in Toronto with a beautiful garden behind a wrought iron fence. This grove of black-eyed susans has been blooming for weeks and the flowers look like they are straining to break out from their cage.
Either that or it's a metaphor for beauty and life behind bars, somewhat like the life us corporate drones live. Can you tell that I need a break from work?
Either way, I love the short stroll I take from the subway to work. An oasis of calm and gentility in my day.
