Ace day! M and I got up late, which meant I had to rush around like a mad thing to get ready for lunch with A at 12. I managed to grab a couple of photos with M before I left though, as he moves onto the next stage of hot-tub building, so here’s another for my series.
I met A (a bit late) at Cafe 52 and we confused the waitress by ordering one main (a portabello mushroom and goats’ cheese burger) to share, leaving the bun and ordering side salad (for which read: being very healthy), then ruining it with two puddings, two coffees and two glasses of prosecco! That’s how we roll :o)
After lunch we walked waddled down to Cowdray Hall for a Vintage Wedding Fair (yes, it has begun) and amused ourselves for three hours talking cakes, photos and dresses. I may have got a bit over-excited and tried a gorgeous Justin Alexander dress on – it was beautiful. I think if A hadn’t already bought her dress she’d have been trying it on too! There were some beautiful shoes there, too, which would have looked great with my bridesmaid’s dress for A’s wedding, but were £160. I’m not really a shoe girl, so that’s a bit shocking for me – all my shoes come from H&M so I couldn’t bear to part with that much... I wouldn’t want to wear them outside! I keep thinking about them now, though, so I wonder if I’ve made a mistake and should have got them. I did take the business card of the shop’s owner... Hmm.
We left in a fuzz of excitement (there may have been squealing when the man on the door gave us a balloon each) and immediately bumped into S from work, who has also just got engaged. She’s quite a tomboy compared to A and I, and I think we scared her (and her fiancé!) a bit...
A got a lift home from our house, after we’d dissected our goody bags and generally pestered poor M, who was probably hoping to hear nothing about weddings from me for at least a year (it’s just over a month since we got engaged). He’s actually been very good at listening to my wedding chatter and making “mmmh”s in all the right places.
When A left, I made some guacamole to go with the slow-cooked chilli I’d prepared in the morning and we scoffed it while watching a very bizarre film with Tom Cruise (Oblivion) which I didn’t concentrate on fully, so confused me greatly at the end. We even managed to get to bed before we fell asleep on the sofa – some sort of record for us both.
