Weta Cave

On our last day in Wellington we visited Weta Cave and had a tour of the studios. Weta Studios are the amazing people responsible for many of the special effects and models and props in the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit films amongst many others. What a great tour. It only lasted 50 mins but we asked lots of questions and got an extra 10. Our tour guide worked there and was so informative. Robin and I love everything to do with movie making and we found it all fascinating. We got to touch silicon faces, compared the weight of real chain mail with the stuff they have invented and saw lots of models and props as well as a blacksmith making a sword (it is a working studios). I highly recommend the tour if you are in Wellington. As you can see the trolls outside the cave even make Rob look small!
