DV

Decided it was time that I made a start with catching up on transferring old DV footage to the computer for editing. It's a task I've been putting off for a while and now I remember why....it takes AGES! We are spoiled now in the era of HD video from compact cameras, DSLRs and dedicated video cameras, where the video is transferred as digital files in minutes or seconds. Although DV isn't really that old, the use of magnetic tape as a recording medium means that transfer to PC is all done in real time i.e. a 30 minute tape takes 30 minutes to transfer. Anyway, that's two tapes done, only another 30+ to go!
