Pretty Flamingo

Sorry about the obvious title, but it was all I could think of. We are making our way south by a rather circuitous route and today stopped off at Slimbridge Wetland Centre in Gloucestershire, a place we have wanted to visit since we joined the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust a while back. We only had a short time there and the light was fading fast on a day that was dull anyway, but we were impressed with the number and range of birds. We stayed to watch the swan feeding, but it had to be the flamingos that we remember best.

Interesting that it was this time last year that we watched the swan feeding at Martin Mere, but today there was no sunset and it was nowhere near as dramatic!

We are staying the night in a hotel near Gloucester and head further south tomorrow.
