Rosy-billed Pochards in South Georgia !?

It was difficult deciding which photograph to blip today, a newsworthy one or a better quality one. In the end I chose the former, definitely not one of my best photos of the day.
However, it does record the probable first sighting of Rosy-billed Pochards in South Georgia ! This still has to be finally confirmed by the scientists of the British Antarctic Survey at King Edward Point, but they had definitely not been seen until a year ago.

They normally live in South America (more usually in warmer latitudes I think) and were probably blown here by the wind.

This photo shows three males and two females, so maybe they might breed ? But would they survive the following winter ?

These were observed on my first excursion ashore on Salisbury Plain. I thought they could be my first sighting of South Georgia Pintails, but instead they turned out to be something much more exciting !
