Paul .....
..... in front of the black doors.
I've had a busy day at work today but managed to take a black door portrait of Paul ( AKA Chippymedic ) who can occasionally be found on the other side of the black doors and has recently joined blip.
I finished work an hour early today so that I could attend a photo talk event at the White cloth gallery in Leeds. The event was for photographers currently working on photo projects to show work in progress and get feedback on it. There were four photographers showing work tonight some of the work didn't do anything for me but I found some really interesting.
Most of the other people there seemed to be working photographers or teaching photography and I felt slightly out of my depth, especially with a lot of the talk about the thought behind the projects some of which seemed to be lost in the photographs themselves. The work I enjoyed most was by Steve Schofield who showed two projects he is working on, one was about life in a monastery and how in this supposedly closed world the modern world was ever present. The other was a very personal project that he started after the death of his dad and looked at places from his dad's past as well as including family photos from his childhood.
After the talk I had 20 minutes to spare before my train home so I had a wander around Leeds and discovered that a lot of the people I usually photograph in the market are still around at night. I took a few quick photos which I've put here. It's been an interesting evening looking at photo projects. I don't have a project as such, but the nearest I have to one at the moment are the Black door Portraits, so today's blip is .....
