Brotherly Love

Today was National Adoption Day and we saw about 12 families add new little ones to their homes. These two brothers were so adorable. The dark haired one had been previously adopted and the family was now welcoming the little one on the right. I loved their matching shirts and fresh haircuts. Big brother was very protective and obviously very happy to have a little brother in his life.

This is always such a positive day. The staff and Judges in Superior Court just love adoptions. These happy moments make up for so much of the conflict that we see on a day to day basis. Each family goes through the formal adoption with the Judge and the newly adopted child is handed a teddy bear by the Judge to commemorate the occasion. After all the papers are signed the families are taken to a reception where there are refreshments and various officials welcome them. A very happy day in Court.

One of our clerks made a comment that she heard Los Angeles did 500 adoptions today. I can only imagine the happy commotion that must have generated.
