Ted sat in the Gate!

After swimming this morning we set of over the back road to Colne past the cemetery where Sir William Pickles Hartley is buried. He is the man who lived locally and started making jam when he was 10 years old. He was a millionaire before he was 21. To say he and his daughter were great benefactors of our area their graves are in a sorry state.

Had a lovely lunch out with a friend who I used to teach swimming with and we talked about how good we were at teaching and how poor the school swimming programme is now? The numbers of children going swimming in our area has dropped by two-thirds since we were teaching 25 years ago.

Anyway back to the gate. It looks really old and Ted had his back to the early morning mist.
