Waiting...
As (almost) every year, the end of November sees me and pal scavenging for choice greenery in the forest and creating a most fulsome and slightly pagan-looking Advent Wreath in Holy Trinity. This afternoon, a benign, mild, dry one, we took our secateurs and our black bags and as the afternoon darkened made our wreath and topped it out, as it were, with the three purple candles, one pink one, and the white one for Christmas Day. It seems appropriate that in this photo the Advent Wreath is standing in the darkness, silhouetted against the processional cross and with the flowers of the previous Sunday still in place - we are, as it were, waiting for the waiting time that is Advent.
Did I mention that I saw my first domestic Christmas tree up and lit on Monday?
