Peacefull emptyness

Today we were at a big national park. Always when I'm there, the emptyness and wideness of the park wonders me. As far as the eye reaches there's... Nothing realy. Smal bushes, sand and a lost tree. Between the sound of gunfire and my classmates there's this overwhelming, masive sound of silence.

How can it be... in a hasty, crowded country like this, we still manage to preserve this small bit of peacefull emptyness. The value of nature is explained in area's like this.
