Eddystone light

This was the Eddystone light until it started to wobble. Eddystone is a reef off Plymouth which has had 4 lighthouses on it. Two were destroyed by fire and storm, this one started to wobble and the current one built in 1882 which is still used.

Smeaton's tower as it is now called was moved to Plymouth Hoe from Eddystone.

A sea shanty -
My father was the keeper of the Eddystone light
And he slept with a mermaid one fine night
From this union there came three
A porpoise and a porgy and the other was me.

A porgy is a type of sea bream.
