Autumn afternoon at Ferry Bridge
The days are just so short now - I only just managed to squeeze in Rosie's walk before dusk. Mind you, most of the day had been sullenly grey, in the way that eastern England does so well, and it was quite a treat to see a little blue sky and some variation in the cloud cover, even if the sun never actually made an appearance. As I arrived flocks of corvids were passing overhead, moving to their night-time roost. They were the reason I took the photograph - the beautiful cloud pattern and the people on the bridge proved to be more interesting than the original subject!
It's been another fairly quiet day of report writing, although I have finally ordered Alex a new mattress that will be delivered next Thursday. Yesterday we all helped to cook a special meal to celebrate the coincidence of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah (which apparently won't occur on the same day for another 70,000 years) - a mash-up of potato latkes with cranberry and apple sauce and soured cream, pot-roast brisket with pumpkin cornbread and pumpkin pie for dessert. Luckily there were plenty of leftovers so I haven't had to do much cooking today!
