Christchurch trams - then and now

Today I took a tram ride in Christchurch, for the first time since 2011.

The trams have been carefully stored and maintained in the 1000 days since they were in use on the day of the big earthquake.

In October 2005 I spent a sunny afternoon photographing in the central city, passing the time in and around Cathedral Square. How lucky I was, to capture the essence of the city at that time!

The upper photo was one of the photos I took in 2005, The Cathedral figuring in the backround. The lower one I took today, from the same spot, and co-incidentally, the same tram!

And so we remember....
