Lower Taylor River

Today Fergus and I did a completely different walk. Poor Gypsy had a trip to the Vet yesterday to have some nasty barley grass removed from between her toes. Barley grass is in abundance where we usually walk and it is impossible to keep the dogs out of it. So she stayed at home and Fergus and I skirted the edge of town and headed for the downtown section of the Taylor River walkways. The grass is kept mowed nice and short for some kilometres upstream from the shopping area, there are attractive plantings here and there and neat and tidy bridges and concrete paths. To some extent it is a bit of a boring environment for dogs but people just love walking, running and cycling along the riverside paths. We see babies in prams and strollers, kids on scooters and skateboards and folk in mobility scooters. It is a heavenly place for so many people. So Fergus and I enjoyed our walk in such manicured surroundings. Keith took Gypsy for a short walk around the nearby streets. I may take both dogs down to the lower Taylor River over the next few days while Gypsy’s feet are healing. It will be just so important to check out their feet after they have been in barley grass areas. Gypsy has had all the fluffy hair shaved from around her toes so her feet will be much easier to check now.
