Superb Fairy Wren - male

Chasing photos of fairy wrens is a very frustrating pastime.

I sat under a macadamia tree (in the shade) for ages waiting for them to emerge from a nearby bush (I did get a few photos of the not quite so interesting females, being plain brown), then crept from blackberry bush to blackberry bush in the field and each time they would move off to the next bush… always one step ahead of me. There was a time when they would come and tap on my parents' windows – but that was probably before they had the dog!
