A is for Advent

Being the first of December I thought I would set myself a challenge of an A to Z about Christmas through December. Not sure if I will make it.
Anyway, A is for ADVENT. I took this looking down the track waiting for the train to take No 2 daughter to London for her train back to Canterbury. Through the pages of the Old Testament the Prophets were looking, as it were, down the track longing for the long awaited Messiah. The following from Wiki is informative:
Latin adventus is the translation of the Greek word parousia, commonly used to refer to the Second Coming of Christ. For Christians, the season of Advent anticipates the coming of Christ from two different perspectives. The season offers the opportunity to share in the ancient longing for the coming of the Messiah, and to be alert for his Second Coming.
