Under the Pier

There has been a pier in Sandown bay since 1897 and it has since has had a chequered history including severe deterioration and two disastrous fires. Following a rebuild and the second fire it was re opened in 1990 and has been offering typical sea side entertainment ever since.

At low tide it is possible to walk below the pier to see the substantial construction which has to withstand everything the elements throw at it.
