Morning in the pool

Our first full day at the villa. We spent all morning in and around the pool in the sunshine. I was so glad I had purchased the two lilos. Sunbathing on a lilo is the ultimate in relaxation and trying to jump onto them from the poolside is so much fun! Orla came in with us in her little inflatable seat and was loving it.

After the pool we made our first visit to the local supermarket, a Carrefour about two miles away in nearby Palafrugell. With all six of us present, it took some time to agree what to buy and check out.

We decided to have a picnic on Tamariu beach for lunch. I carried Orla down in the bushbaby. Our route down the hill involved going through the woods and I had to keep ducking very low to avoid tye branches with Orla in my back. It was very busy on the beach because it was still the Catalunya summer bank holiday weekend. But we found a spot okay. The picninc consisted of bread, cheese, ham, tomatoes and a bottle of red wine between the six of us. Afterwards, some of us went for a swim in the sea.

Matthew carried Orla on the way back up the hill. Tough work with an extra two stone! It was Matthew's birthday today and he had brought a few birthday cards with him which he opened before dinner whilst we had a beer on one of the many terraces by the pool.

To celebrate Matthew's birthday we had dinner in Tamariu. Anne and Orla stayed at the villa. We got a table in a great position with a view across the beach. There was a very nice atmosphere around Tamariu. Kids were playing along the seafront and on the beach, despite it being after dark. That said a lot about the place. Certainly not like many other Spanish Coastal resorts. We had a drink after the meal outsdie at the Tamariu hotel. Then we made our way back up the hill to the villa.
