Embu das Artes

Embu das Artes is located at about 25 Km from São Paulo and is famous for its handicraft fair during the weekends and public holidays.
The village is build in colonial style, and on the small and coblestoned streets you can buy handicrafts, ranging from trumpery to real expensive art, and costing from a few bucks to several thousands of Reais. If you spend some time you can find a good bargain.
Many families take the opportunity to spend some time and have lunch in one of the many restaurants, which most of them serve 'comida caseira' (home-made food) or 'comida Mineira' (food from Minas Gerais) such as 'Leitão Pururuca' (grilled or roasted pig)
