Day 5

Hollie's day 5 gift to me was a "prey hat," so named by the eagle handler at Hawk Mountain. The handler was walking with the golden eagle, and when he stopped in front of a family the bird started getting very agitated. The guy finally realized why and told the little girl of about 5 who was right in front of him that it was because the raccoon hat she was wearing was a "prey hat." I don't think that he meant to scare her so badly, but she whipped that hat off of her head so fast, in such a fluid movement, that I laughed out loud.
Hollie thought it was funny when I told her about it, and also thought it would be a sure way to attract hawks to me and ensure good photos.
