Portsmouth
I signed up to start a photography Meetup group as I couldn't find what I wanted locally, which is simply a group assessable to anyone without exorbitant costs. Most of the groups are either expensive or in London. City phobia more than the cost of travelling up made me think twice but I did find a Hampshire group and saw they were doing a night photography outing tonight in Portsmouth.
I have had an amazing evening! A group of ten people, none of which had ever met before, bar one couple, met up at the train station. There were those that were competent, those that needed a little help, and a couple who had just picked up their first SLR's in the past couple of days. The conversation was easy and there wasn't any awkward feeling of invasion into the politics of a well establish select group. We all talked about our different experiences, discussed the settings and gave the less experienced tips and instructions that will have given them fantastic images to go home with.
After a ferry trip over to Gosport, photographs were taken of the view over the water to Portsmouth then we headed for a shopping centre to snap the Christmas lights. A short walk took us into the harbour where the fishing boats land and on to the old town, where this image was taken. One by one the participants dropped out to go home but all would jump at the chance to do the whole thing again. Great fun!
I arrived home shortly after 11pm and glad I don't have an office to go to in the morning but, tomorrow is a shoot day so I still have to raise from my bed! Midnight struck a while ago... I'm offskie!
