BAIKAL TEAL

It's quite handy living in a narrow part of England. Friday we were on the East coast, and today the West. We drove to Marshside near Southport to see the reported Baikal Teal. Using the rule of thirds, the Teal is almost on the bottom left "third" line. Unfortunately he is lurking behind a clump of grass. This was one of his favourite occupations. What is interesting about this photograph though is that those houses across the water are more than 5 miles away at Lytham St Annes. I'm sure I can make out someone waving from the upstairs window of the white gable-ended house, incidentally almost directly above the Baikal Teal.

That amazing range just from my little camera. And the Teal was only a hundred yards away and I couldn't snap him!

You need a sense of humour for bird-watching. Especially if we find out it was an escapee.
