Coal Tit
What a grim day! Totally unprepossessing in terms of light but a camera club colleague had captured photos of nuthatches at Calke Abbey this weekend, so Basil and I climbed into Murphy and set off. Basil, of course, enjoyed the walk. I did take photos of The Old Man of Calke, a 1,000 year old oak tree, but the thing that brightened my day was to find a hide at the edge of the car park overlooking a bird feeding station, with loads of birds, and no one else inside it. Here's a photo of a coal tit with a bluetit looking on. Such low light and the birds constantly moving, means the exposure is dull and I had to crank up the noise reduction in Lightroom. I'll be returning when there's some sunlight.
