Orchidectomy

"Don't do it Stanley! And certainly not with a Stanley."

OK, one Blipmate asked; here's the secret. When the flowers drop off, don't cut off the stems!

Simply put the plant in a cool, dry and light place - our "orchid graveyard" is the utility room windowsill. Make sure it's only in the clear container it comes in - the roots need the light too. And keep watering about once a week so it doesn't dry out.

It may take up to six months to flower again; sometimes never, but that's unusual. This is Mum's orchid that she had before she died in April 2012. It is now in its third bloom since J inherited it.
