When given a Lego brick as some 'extra food for work' it usually seems to be expected to eat it there and then so that it can be returned and re-used, whereas things like wee pompoms from the messbox or leaves picked up and presented on the way to nursery seem to be meant to be kept, though I try to hang on to them to return them after getting proof of having taken them all the way to my desk.
