Heart of Oaxaca

Where to start. We were preparing dinner and heard music in the zócalo (main plaza about 4 blocks away) so went there to see what was happening. A marimba band was set up, and folding chairs magically appeared. As on any night, hundreds of people are strolling around, buying things from vendors, eating, just enjoying the evening.
When the band was ready to start, this man talked from his heart about the culture of Oaxaca and the traditions of Navidad, and the importance of the traditions in their lives. The band played on, people danced, and between every song he talked a little more.
Fireworks boomed from another plaza, some lit the sky and others were just blasts of noise.
Life in Oaxaca. You just never know what's next.
