Old money
This old scale is fantastic. It would have been used pre-1971 (decimalisation) to weight and charge for cheese and cold meats in corner shops.
The way it worked is the assistant placed the item on a little platform at the front and weighed the amount as per the big numbers at the top. Then once the weight was correct they read the price from all the numbers below based on the cost per pound of the item being weighed.
Dead easy, dead sophisticated!
